LPHOH offers a tremendous opportunity for patients and their families to “unplug” from the whirlwind of doctors, medications, tests, pokes, sticks, and scares; all that makes up the roller coaster ride called “breast cancer”. It has provided me the opportunity to connect with others that are on the “same ride”, and the ability to see I am not alone. I have never in my life experienced such unselfishness, thoughtfulness, and compassion from anyone (much less complete strangers) who have all come together to make the retreats become possible.
What makes LP unique is its cohesiveness I have seen among volunteers, families, and breast cancer survivors not only during the retreats but afterward. Our kids often reference their “little pink family” and I believe family describes the organization perfectly!
