As part of the amazing journey of Little Pink, we have the joy of meeting people that change the way that we look at everything. Christine is one of those special people. She reached out to Little Pink after declining a retreat to talk about how she felt a calling to help offer our retreat model out West. She has been an inspiration as a survivor who embraces life and focuses on living her life out in a Christ like example. She is coordinating our first West Coast retreat in Lake Tahoe, Ca starting September 8th!
Please tell us about your experience with Little Pink Houses of Hope:
Well so far my experience has been with Jeanine & I have really enjoyed getting to know her. I was actually chosen for the Nov 2012 Myrtle Beach retreat but was unable to get a doctor sign off to leave for the week, so now instead, I’m helping as a project coordinator for the 1st West Coast retreat! 🙂
What accomplishments are you most proud of?:
Being happily married for almost 12 years, adopting our son from Kazakhstan & surviving 11 months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy & 6 weeks of radiation. Being a breast cancer survivor & helping others. I would not have been able to do ANY of these things without my faith & the love of Christ in my life.
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why?:
I really like helping others & animals. My dream job would be to have an animal therapy program for cancer patients or for anyone who is lonely & needs a companion. My 15 year old pitbull, Daisy Mae, has been just that for me during my breast cancer healing process. A complete & total faithful companion, never leaving my side. That has meant everything to me!
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?:
Reading, I love being outdoors, hiking, boating, skiing, and I love doing Crossfit & running. I’m just getting back into being more active after my cancer treatments & am looking forward to sweating it out again!
If you had a time machine, what is something that you would want to see?: I would love to have been around during the Roaring 20’s. I loved that era. The whole Great Gatsby time.
What is your most prized possession?:
My faith & my family
Thanks Christine for all of your hard work. We’ll see you in Tahoe!!!
