Burlington resident Jeanine Patten-Coble believes in the power of sand, surf, and sunshine. Since 2010 her organization, Little Pink Houses of Hope, has provided week-long, all-expense-paid beach vacations to individuals fighting breast cancer and their families. It’s a time for these families to reflect, renew, relax, and reconnect. It’s a time to leave behind the stress of treatments and medical expenses and focus on growing stronger for the journey ahead.
Jeanine understands firsthand the importance of a solid family unit while battling breast cancer—she’s a survivor herself. In June of 2009, the day before leaving for her family’s annual beach trip, she received her diagnosis. After Jeanine and her husband shared the difficult news with their son, the three spent the week growing closer as a team, readying themselves for whatever came their way. This beach trip also sparked Jeanine’s initial inspiration for Little Pink Houses of Hope.
