Little Pink had another beautiful day in Bethany Beach! Yesterday the mom’s had a day of pampering for date night at Off The Hook and Perucci’s. While they were out on the town, the volunstars took the kids out for a fire station tour, pizza, and mini golf at Captain Jack’s… thanks Carol Schultze. Everyone had a blast, especially since we topped off the night with Rita’s water ice…thank you Carol Tenuto! The kids have bonded so well that nobody wanted to leave at the end of the night.
Today began with kayaking and canoeing on Rehoboth Bay. While some adventured out on the water, others stayed on shore playing games and chatting away. After a fun-filled morning, the families enjoyed a beautifully prepared lunch courtesy of Mary Thormeyer and friends.
Later on, each family got to do a photoshoot on the beach with professional photographer Paul Pruitt. Everyone cannot wait to see the pictures! The families also had another chance to fish on the beach, and this time we caught two big ones!
The night ended with a Mexican fiesta. A mouthwatering fajita buffet was lovingly prepared by Liz and Ed Burke, followed by s’mores over the grill. Everyone was all smiles! As the evening drew to a close, we all agreed that we could not believe tomorrow is our last day.
The connections that the families have formed on this retreat are invaluable and will undoubtedly extend far beyond the here and now. Nevertheless, many of us will not be saying TGIF tomorrow! Many of the families have expressed how thankful they are for this week and the volunstars have loved watching them begin to transform and become rejuvenated in mind and spirit.
A special thanks to Chris Aumilla, Linda Neuner, Karen Taylor, Joan Thomas, Eileen Gianquinto, Carol Gomez, Carol Kopay, Faith Denault, and Mary Lou Tietz for providing a wonderful lunch on Wednesday.
A special thanks to Jennifer and Mark Dieste for helping to fund the pizza from Al Casapulla’s on Wednesday night.
