The 2014 Summer Tour of Hope starts today! For the next 53 days, Little Pink will driving across country to help raise awareness of our mission of providing free retreats for breast cancer patients, spotlight alumni around the country in their own communities, and raise funds to help provide opportunities to expand our programming.
The bigger question today as I get ready to embark on this journey is that although I have all of the stops mapped out and I know where I am headed, where will I be led? I think about the thousands of people that Little Pink will have a chance to come into contact with and the opportunity that our organization has to reach out to people that we never imagined would become part of our family and my excitement grows!
Many people have very kiddingly (or maybe not so much) said that I must be crazy to leave for two months and drive 11,000 miles on this journey. It seems like the most natural thing for our organization to do right now. We have a chance to reach back out to Alumni within their own communities, reconnect Little Pink families, and watch the path that God has already laid out unfold.
Along the way, I will have various passengers in my car for which I am incredibly grateful. Many of them will fly in, drive a week and fly out. They will get a chance to watch this journey unfold and provide another perspective of the trip. I will be asking some of them to be guest bloggers along the way!
So, as the trip meter is set at 0.00, please pray for a safe journey full of love and the chance to say YES to the unexpected surprises along the way!
I have one special person keeping me company throughout the entire trip, Little Pink Penelope, who is probably going to be causing some trouble! Where will you see Penelope next??
Baltimore, here we come!
