Smiles lit up across my family’s face when we saw the 2014 summer tour of hope car pull up in the front of our house in Vernon Hills, IL. And of course when Jeanine walked out. Today we had two wonderful events planned to raise money.
We started our day off with a pink lemonade stand at 12:00-3:00. Many of our neighbors stopped by and donated and we’re so thankful. One of my favorite things from the lemonade stand was hearing how our neighbors were connected by the tragic common denominator of cancer and just the fact that we could all relate and they understood. They all loved the fact that for once money from a lemonadestand was going towards a wonderful cause. At the end of our lemonade stand we ended up raising $183.07!
Afterwards we got ready for our second event which was Our Open House of Hope where we opened up our home from 6:00-8:00. H’orderves and wine were set up around our house and our friends and neighbors stopped by and donated. Jen Linares and her family from the Myrtle Beach 2013 retreat were able to stop by and it was great getting to talk to their family and hear their experience. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and getting to know more about Little Pink. At the end of the night we ended up raising $2,078.26! Both events went really well and I’m so thankful for all the people that donated.
