I have been overwhelmed since the beginning of the Summer Tour of Hope trip by the chance to reconnect with families who have been in our program and to see the people who love them. Today was a true privelege. As many of you saw, on Father’s Day weekend, we lost two of our LPHOH moms, Rhonda Van Sickle and Lisa Covington. Both of these women were from the Kansas City area and I got a chance to spend the first half of the day with their their husbands and got to see some of their boys. It was a privelege to be able to hug them from all of their Little Pink Family. Roger took me to Gates for famous KC barbeque and even talked our way into Kauffman Field. Thanks to the most adorable security guard Frank for making it happen! The big event tonight was held at Gilda’s Club in Kansas City! The Fifty Shades of Pink event included a wine tasting provided by Embrace the Grape, a raffle and a presentation by one of our LPHOH moms, Sabra from the local community. Great to see one of our Little Pink “kids” Blake and his girlfriend Ali! The Kansas City group has been hard at work, not only with tonight’s event, but with other fundraisers like a golf tournament in honor of Lisa Covington, a special Mexican dinner night, and a bowling tournament. The total for our Kansas City event was $4,015.00!
