Beautiful. Inspiring. Athletic. Moving. Strong. Perseverance. Commitment. Family. Honor. Love.
All words that sum up a wonderful day in Newport Beach, CA today at the First Annual Sharon Melton Tennis Tournament benefitting Little Pink Houses of Hope at the Newport Beach Tennis Club. Doubles teams came out to support a long time friend and new cause to the area and showed us all how the competitive spirit helps to drive the human heart. We are so proud of all of the teams that competed and for their support of breast cancer families.
After the medals were awarded, all of the attendees at the luncheon got a chance to celebrate the winners, focus on learning more about Little Pink’s mission and goals, and hear more from a special LPHOH family that lives in the Huntington Beach area, Heather and Don Szabo and their girls.
Heather lead with her heart and talked about what Little Pink meant to her family during the early portion of her cancer journey. As a stage IV mother of 2, Heather was surrounded by love and support.
Suzanne Smith, the hostess for the tournament and event organizer led an inspiring program that culminated in Sharon Melton and her daughter taking the stage to discuss the inspirational journey of her mother. It is clear that a can do spirit and never give up determination have been the key to Sharon’s recovery. As a fellow survivor, I felt overwhelmed in the presence of these two amazing women and felt lucky to call them friend.
The tournament was a huge success raising more than $10,000! We are thrilled with all of the wonderful connections that Little Pink has had a chance to make in the area and look forward to seeing what the future holds regarding a Southern California retreat.
And we capped the evening off by celebrating a grand day at Orange Hills restaurant with a scenic view of the valley.
I am also thrilled to have my first leg driver, Jake, back out on the road with me for a week!
Thanks to Suzanne and all of the wonderful friends, businesses and individuals who made today a huge success!
