The houses are ready. The Volunstars are anxious. The welcome dinner is in the oven and car wheels are spinning fast to get to Emerald Isle. The families are almost here–“I just heard from mine and they’re twenty minutes away.” “Who’s that pulling into the parking lot? The license plate says Canada!”
So much excitement for our first official day of the Emerald Isle family retreat! Smiling faces from weary travelers were met with a true southern embrace when they arrived for check-in at Emerald Isle Baptist Church. The parish hall quickly filled with laughter and stories between instant friends as we enjoyed a home-cooked meal. After some creative dessert, the kids went outside and tested their bean bag tossing skills while the parents went through the week’s schedule.
Our week ahead will undoubtedly be filled with joy, love, and memories. So here we go!
