Introducing Guest Blogger: Janis
Today our day of EXPLORING started at Bogue Inlet Pier where we had a great morning fishing, and telling fish stories. Some were grossed out by the smell of the bait and the slimy feel of the fish, but that was soon forgotten as fish were caught. Up and down the pier fish were reeled in, taken off the hook, and released back to the sea. One participant won the trophy (if we had one) for most fish caught and another for the biggest.
We had a picnic lunch beside the pier. Delicious sandwiches, wraps, and homemade chips were provided by Flipperz
Then it was off to EXPLORE the world of kayaking! After instructions from Lamar, the owner of Barrier Island Kayaks, boats were launched into the sound and all that desired took off for a ride across the inter-coastal waterway. While they were boating, some of us enjoyed the ocean breeze and chatting under the shade of palm trees.
As evening approached, the adults were treated to a fantastic dinner at Jackie’s American Grill. There they shared stories and laughs while memories that will last a lifetime were made. LPHOH volunteers got to spend time with the kids at MacDaddy’s. We had a blast as we bowled, ate pizza for dinner ,and then bowled some more! An awesome day with wonderful experiences was had by all! And this is how we have fun EXPLORING in the South!
