Our Little Pink family started the day at Hammock’s Beach State Park where we met Captain Tim and his first mate (and better half!), Jane, and boarded the beautiful Lady Swan. With our hair blowing in the wind, we glided along the water until we arrived at our destination, a secluded white sand beach.
The kids rushed from the boat and the search for seashells began. We watched the small crabs emerge from the sand and then scramble away as we approached. We walked. We swam. Bags were filled with shells, and all too soon, it was time to leave our paradise.
Waiting to greet us were the good ladies from the Swansboro Chamber of Commerce, Donna and Celeste. We all followed the delicious aroma to the deck where we found festive decorations and the reason for the smell! Bogue House Restaurant served a finger-lickin-good lunch — fresh fried flounder, shrimp, and chicken cooked on-site! Oh and the hushpuppies … don’t get me started. YUM!
After a little break (nap time for some!), we were back together again. What would summer be without a backyard BBQ? With southern style and grace, our friends from Chapel By The Sea provided just that, complete with burgers, dogs, potato salad, mac & cheese, and deviled eggs upon deviled eggs! We were even treated to some of the weekly Pastor Clay jokes — We will pray for you members of Chapel By The Sea!
It was an impossible-to-forget kind of day. Thanks to many people, memories that will last a lifetime were made today. I know I will never forget our day on our dot of paradise!
