As the retreat comes to an end, we take the time to realize how great of a week we have had, and how wonderful our Little Pink family has become. It’s truly amazing how close we have become in such a short amount of time, it’s hard to believe it has only been one week together. But when it comes to relationships, it’s not the amount of time spent together, it’s the memories and trust made during that time. With all the memories we have made this week, I’m sure no one will forget our Little Pink family.

All of the adults all week have been talking about how great it is to see all the kids connect so well so quickly. How they laugh and play; acting like have known each other their whole lives. But, from our point of view as volunteers, the adults were the same exact way this week. Constant laughter and smiling, giggling from across the room. These are the things we volunteer for, to reach that level of comfort and ease in each and every person. To achieve our goal of taking care of absolutely everything so that everyone’s minds can completely clear, leaving us able to keep our thoughts focused on the important things in life that make us happy.
Tonight, before our goodbyes, we had a feast of BBQ, sushi, ice cream and brownies (thanks to Crazy Johnny’s and Diamond Shoals; respectively). And to work off all the food, we took the kids out to the tennis courts to play some games, blow some bubbles, and hula-hoop our butts off while the parents stayed inside for their last parent get-together.
Seeing everyones faces tonight as they said their final goodbye’s, lets me know that I’ve achieved my goal. That I’ve accomplished exactly what I came here for. It’s sad to say goodbye, but with such strong bonds made this week I’m sure everyone will keep in touch, one way or another. We just hope that this week was everything each and every one of our families here needed, and hope to see everyone again.
