It was a clear, breezy, sunny day Yaupon/Oak Island Fishing Pier where the families spent some time fishing. There wasn’t a whole lot of catching but there was some great time spent together.
Thanks goes to Kathy, Tommy and Carolyn from the OI pier and Jacci Hohnstein from OI parks and recreation who ‘hooked’ us up with everything we needed for a fun morning on pier.

Sherri French, owner of Southport Tea House along with Barb Acton provided a beautiful tea luncheon for all of the survivors.
A delicious meal included scones, salad and chocolate cake prepared by chef Patrick Goncalez. Each lady had a pot of flavored tea of her choice as they enjoyed the music and singing of Dawn Strickland. What a special time was had by all.
Adults night out was provided by Rhonda Uhlmann at the Flying Fish Cafe. The couples enjoyed a relaxing ocean side dinner on the patio watching the beautiful sunset where scrumptious appetizers, entrees and dessert were served.
Meanwhile, the kids were having a blast at the Oak Island Recreation Center. Where there’s kids you gotta have pizza! So, Dominos pizza provided the kids and volunteers with a yummy pizza dinner.
There was so much fun to be had. Baseball, pool, dancing, singing, video games, ping ping and battleship. They didn’t want it to end (and neither did the parents!)
A big thank you to all of the generous people who made our day awesome.
