The day started with a great round of golf. Whether it was hitting a long drive, sinking a putt, or even driving the golf cart recklessly, everyone had a great time on the course at the Oak Island Country Club. Those who chose not to golf either relaxed back at their houses or learned some new yoga moves from Christie at the Oak Island Rec Center.
Then it was time for the goodbye meal provided by the Barbecue House. Dinner was served on the beach near the Volunstar house. The families sat together in a circle filled with love, compassion and understanding for each other. After dinner everyone took their time to share the best parts of their week. A Little Pink first was accomplished. The sky lanterns successfully lifted off all together! They took flight on the beach and floated through the calm air to signify the end of the retreat.
The goodbyes began on the beach and then spilled over into the parking lot as nobody wanted to see each other leave. The Oak Island retreat was filled with people stepping outside of their comfort zones and trying different things. It was about people coming together from different backgrounds and leaving as family.
