Monday morning dawned bright and sunny, perfect for a day on the beach. The LPHOH volunSTARs assembled their signature pink tent as well as beach chairs, kites, and sand toys. The water was cold, but that didn’t stop the kids!
Delicious bagged lunches were provided by Mark and Jen Dieste. Everyone enjoyed their lunch in the comfort of Ann Raskauskas’ home or out by the water. Later that afternoon one of our long time supporters, Carol Hartnett, led ‘kids’ of all ages through a friendly game of “Bethany Beach Survivor”. A few of the unique props included rubber chickens, shaving cream, safety cones, spoons and shower caps! The games were fast-paced, whimsical, and down right hilarious! VolunSTAR Russ McCarthy said, “Shaving cream and cheese balls, that was definitely my favorite part of the day, just seeing the kids having fun.”
After the games, each participant survivor was presented with a beautiful handmade flower centerpiece made by Marion Forma. She always prepares something beautiful for the survivors and this year she outdid herself.
A delicious dinner was provided by Jimmy’s Grill and served by their amazing employees Martha and Alex. The amount of food and desserts was overwhelming. As our Stacy Shepps reminded everyone, “If you go away from a Little Pink meal hungry – then it is your own fault.” I think we all left with relaxed spirits and a full bellies!
