My breast cancer diagnosis stopped me in my tracks. Life swirled around me as I tried to figure out how to calm the storm. How was I to continue caring for my family but make my treatment a priority? It was difficult, time passed in a different way – activities and family vacations were overshadowed and replaced with mom’s surgeries, treatment, and recovery. Family and friends helped, and we made it through, but before feeling settled into a new normal, school and work demands came rushing back to priority. It felt as if we never had a chance to appreciate what we overcame and what we hope never to lose.
Little Pink House of Hope provided our family with the opportunity to pause and appreciate life. There were no obligations, no stress, no work to be done, no thinking to be had, and no effort to be made. Our family was able to relax and enjoy each other’s company and had the extra bonus of meeting good people who understood our struggles. We ended the week feeling revived and are very thankful to have had this opportunity. I will cherish the memories of this trip and will look fondly at the pictures Little Pink captured of my family’s smiling faces!
