Breast cancer was a devastating diagnosis. Even now, a year later and officially no evidence of disease, we still worry that something is going to happen. The children worry if I get sick that I’m REALLY sick again – and that’s almost worse than being actually sick. This vacation allowed us to solidify to the kids that at least right now, Mom is okay. It allowed all of us a week to focus on that fact while also getting to connect with other families (now friends) similar in age and stages of lives, and get to have even more people in our village that understand our hardships and why the joy and roses mean that much more.
