My husband and I did not realize how much we needed the break from work, home, and cancer life.

When I got the email that I had been selected for a retreat with Little Pink Houses of Hope, I was unsure of what to expect or if we were the right family to have been selected. I kept thinking there are so many other families that could use this more than us and who are more deserving. As the week got closer, I began to feel excited and nervous. I was nervous that we would possibly not fit in or connect with anyone and we would feel like outsiders.
The day came and we arrived at Kate’s Pancake House to check in. The moment we stepped out of our vehicle we were greeted by the most amazing Volunstars with hugs and smiles. They already knew our names and welcomed us with open arms.
During the week we laughed, cried, and connected with so many wonderful people. People just like us going through similar situations, just trying to keep life normal for their family during the diagnosis, appointments, and treatments. I am so thankful for the new connections and friendships made during our week.
Our week in Carolina Beach, NC with Little Pink Houses of Hope was truly a blessing we did not know we needed. My husband and I did not realize how much we needed the break from work, home, and cancer life. We were able to spend much needed time enjoying each other’s company. It was so relaxing and refreshing to our bodies and souls!
We are so thankful to Little Pink Houses and all of their supporters for this amazing opportunity!
