I am a wife and mother of six beautiful children. I was diagnosed at the age of 36 in 2018 with breast cancer and went through 2 years of treatment which included; chemo, radiation, double mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery. In December 2020 my scans showed no more signs of cancer but within only ten months we were surprised to discover my breast cancer had returned in my ovaries. Now battling metastatic breast cancer the time left with my family just got real! I have to be more intentional in how we spend that remaining time here. So many things I desire to do with my family and watching my children grow up! Little pink houses of HOPE was such a blessing at just the right time! This retreat was exactly what our family needed, to relax and just enjoy the present moment! The staff and volunteers were amazing and expressed compassion! The house we were gifted to stay in was fabulous with the beach just a few steps away. This was a vacation we would not have been able to afford on our own! After we had arrived I walked behind my husband and children as they all rushed to see the ocean and it was as if time stood still. Tears fell as joy filled my soul, watching the excitement of the ones I love! That moment of true gratitude for the selfless people who took part in making this getaway happen! Ocean city was a beautiful place to visit and our family will forever be grateful for this opportunity! I don’t know what tomorrow holds for my cancer journey but I do have hope in living the best life with intention for each day that I am given! Thank you to everyone that made it possible for families like mine to have this memorable experience!
