It’s common on a retreat for us to share the best part of our day with each other as a way to reflect on the things we’ve laughed about, marveled at, and those times and people that moved us. If you’ve been on a retreat as a volunteer, family participant, vendor, or community member, you’ve probably felt the impact of what Little Pink creates in a way that you didn’t expect going into it. We all walk away feeling like part of something bigger; something that is moving forward and growing. With each new friend we meet along this journey we’re reminded of how fortunate we are to be a part of something so special. And recognizing those moments as they happen allows us to appreciate them even more.
Yesterday we lost Amy, a beautiful mother, wife, and friend. Yesterday was not an easy day for anyone. When you hear or read “Little Pink Family”, it is exactly that.
The best part of my day was seeing my Little Pink Family hug each other from every corner of this country and beyond. Through phone calls, texts, emails, and postings, participants from past retreats, supporters from our adopted hometowns, and complete strangers showed that beyond all the beautiful beaches and pretty pictures, we’re all creating something real.
Keep hugging each other and this Little Pink Family will grow stronger; and that will be the best part of many days to come.
